If the steps above don’t work, you may have a loose or damaged gas cap. This causes fumes to release, which activates the check light engine. Park the car, remove your gas cap, then put it back on, making sure it’s secure. If the cap is damaged, the parts center at Tate Branch Hobbs can set you up with a replacement. Once the cap is fitted securely, the check engine light should disappear (assuming that’s the issue).
