What’s New for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler?
Jeep knows that the Wrangler is an iconic model with a rich history that is recognized throughout the automotive industry. That’s why, even nearly 40 years later, the Wrangler is still reminiscent of the original model, featuring a tall and wide stance, an upright seven-slot grille, a convertible roof, removable doors, and trapezoidal fender flares. However, Jeep refreshed the Wrangler once again to keep up with the times. A great example of this is the upgraded color scheme of the iconic grille, featuring a body-color outline, black textured slots, and Neutral Gray Metallic bezels. Slight variations are made to the grille’s color scheme throughout the lineup to distinguish particular trims, such as the Gloss Black grille on the Willys trim. Another new exterior feature is the introduction of a stealth windshield-integrated antenna, replacing the former steel mast antenna that had been notorious for getting tangled in branches while trail riding. Jeep didn’t want to take away from the Wrangler’s instant recognizability, so many of the most noticeable improvements came from the interior. For example, the entire 2024 Jeep Wrangler lineup comes standard with a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with a horizontal position atop the center stack. Another new interior feature is the 12-way power-adjustable front seats. Other new available options include new Anvil and Bikini exterior paint colors, ten new wheel options, an upgraded Willys trim, and the all-new Rubicon X!
Engine Options for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler offers three available engine options, beginning with the Pentastar 3.6L V6. The Pentastar engine conquers all, from everyday drives to tough off-road trails, with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, select trim levels in the Wrangler lineup offer a 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a seamless blend of power and efficiency. The turbocharged engine delivers an impressive 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Shifting Jeep’s focus toward an electric future is the 4xe powertrain. Jeep’s new 4xe plug-in hybrid electric powertrain features two electric motors powered by a rechargeable 400-volt battery and the aforementioned turbocharged engine. Available for the Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude trim, the Wrangler 4xe offers an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque along with unprecedented fuel efficiency. Finally, exclusive to the Wrangler Rubicon 392, is the 6.4L HEMI V8 engine, tearing up the road and trails with 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque to match!
What 4×4 Systems Does the 2024 Wrangler Offer?
The Jeep Wrangler is recognized as the pinnacle of off-road capability, taking on some of the most rugged trails out there, such as California’s ever-changing Rubicon Trail and the rocky terrain of Moab, Utah. At the heart of the Wrangler’s off-road capability are its three legendary 4×4 systems. Standard equipment for most of the Wrangler’s lineup is Command-Trac 4×4. Command-Trac is a part-time 4×4 system, meaning that drivers can shift into and out of four-wheel drive using a shifter on the center console. This shift can be made at speeds up to 55 MPH. Meanwhile, Command-Trac’s transfer case offers both 4-High and 4-Low modes, allowing you to get the best traction for the current road surface. The next system, Selec-Trac, comes with the 4xe, turbocharged, and V8 Wrangler models. Selec-Trac is a full-time system, which means it operates in 4-High mode at all times while allowing for the manual selection of 4-Low mode when low-speed traction is required. Last comes the Rock-Trac 4×4 system, exclusive to the Rubicon trims. Rock-Trac comes as a part-time system for the Rubicon and as a full-time system for the all-new Rubicon X. Rock-Trac delivers unparalleled off-roading capability with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio, which results in more torque at lower speeds.
